Biography
What year did you start training and what was your attraction to BJJ?
I started training in 2010 because I was always attracted to one-on-one combative combat sports.
What do you most enjoy about BJJ and training at LEMA?
The thing that I enjoy the most about BJJ is that every person regardless their ability or skill set has an opportunity to fit themselves into close community and can be made to feel important. What I enjoy the most about training at Lake effect are the bonds I’ve formed with so many of the students that I can now call friends and a chance to coach them along the way of their journey.
Who is your inspiration and why?
My greatest inspiration in life would have have been my late father Pete Mazzeo Sr. He gave me courage. He molded me into the man that I am today and which a person who isn’t afraid of any challenge, any question, any hardship and lives without any regrets.
What are some of your achievements?
An achievement that I’m pleased about aside from earning my BJJ black belt is knowing that I have made my family proud of me. I know they’ve felt that all of their time, patience and resources invested into me while growing up paid off.
What is your favorite submission?
My favorite submission is a straight arm lock.
